Day 6: I’m a social worker by training, and a social worker at heart. Seeing people who are suffering, marginalized and unseen receive care, resources, love, and hope thrills me like nothing else does. While my training in social work was invaluable, I don’t believe the training gave me the passion.
The passion was put there by God, because He made all of us like Him in some ways. Love, justice, and mercy find their origins in Him…God says through the prophet Isaiah, “Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” (Isaiah 1:17). This is His heart, and He put some of it in me.
The work that can be done in healthcare and other areas in Ethiopia excites me, but it’s not about me. It’s about God and His work of bringing redemption to our broken world. I am excited that we get to be a part of it.#31daysofcalling #lovesinethiopia
